The times, they shrink us down when they’re hard The rest of the world so big, so far When your cell is too small you cling to the bars Imprisoned in simply being Possibly, maybe, probably reeling Running and jumping, hiding from feeling If I could I’d break through the ceiling Growth is so sweet, so oddly freeing But, Words are floating downward Sugar-coated, fake and fractured They turn in to coat our skin In moments manufactured Then they turn out to knock us down And fall a little faster But sometimes they’re just too high God damn my stupid stature Someone in distress told me my soul was pearl She said I’d grow with wisdom I said ‘Fuck, I hope man I feel small and then some’ She asked if I had any wisdom to give her Any advice at all I said it seemed like she needed to grow, and She needed to know it Because, An artist has a purpose if they’ve got a craft to master But industry’s a different beast, a dog eat dog attacker They say you’ll have to step and step to get to what you’re after But could they be too steep for me? God damn my stupid stature Well, If over time you’re shrinking getting farther from the top And every day you’re climbing up just to reach the drop With nothing in your power you can do to make it stop Then stature’s pretty mighty, might be All we got

There’s no such thing as running But there’s a whole lot of denying it’s there And you may not be forthcoming But keeping quiet doesn’t make it easy to bare Because the burden that you’re holding’s getting mighty heavy And the longer that carry it The more it’ll weigh And for what? For whom? And how long? There’s no such thing as closure And waiting for it sets you on an imminent fate And it won’t ever be over If you expect to stumble on a definite day Now think back to all the people All the power you gave Just ‘cause they did something bad enough To go on a page And for what? For whom? And how long?

They’re calling it quits The hand that feeds fractured at the wrist And all mankind is on the tit Of the last woman left at the market She’s been tossed and she’s been aged So they’re giving her away To the bidder with the highest pay They traveled to paradise for the trade They’re closing their eyes Blindly adding to the pile And all mankind is of the tribe That’s turned inward and eating their children They don’t know it They’re surprised When we put their feet to the fire Just to fry And we tell them not to ask why What a way of chasing the high If I’m really thriving I should run on home For if I’m really fighting I’m doing it all wrong And we forage through the forest For a hint of what we know But never live in wilderness And never watch it grow They’ve crawled up and died Warehouse out of the supply And ol’ mankind’s so far behind With the scientists locked up in prison They can’t see it They’ve gone blind Thinking that they’re still alive And they’ll thrive If only for the reprise What a way to see the surprise If I’m really thriving I should run on home For if I’m really fighting I’m doing it all wrong And we forage through the forest For a hint of what we know But never live in wilderness And never watch it grow

I can see when you’ve seen it ‘Cause of my approach ‘Cause it’s sick and it’s bold And I’m drunk and decided To go with the flow Of what I thought I’d know For the moment And I haven’t grown And it shows Thought I’d open the floodgates For no other reason Than to retain Control for a change I suppose that I’m owed it Since racing through the maze And coming in first Just to learn it’s all a game And with every outcome that ends up the same I’ll be banging my head against the wall here deranged If I can pull out my hair Why can’t I trade my face? I’m very rarely open Except for the times I forget I’ve decided I’m broken For a moment I’m joking I’m home rum and coking I manage to fly with these Bricks on my shoulder I’m terribly honest Believe me man, I can fuckin’ leak just like a faucet If you get me started Come to my apartment And let me show you around The little slice that I’ve been carving If I’m not too busy starving And with every skincell The prospect of change Every halfwit banquet Every something to say They tear up these walls The fragments, they fall in place I keep on trying to make it make sense Question the quiet and blind to the mess Leaving me tired, riled and restless Victim amidst circumstances
